Head hitter jumps in Minecraft parkour
A head hitter is a jump under a ceiling two blocks above the block you jump from: your head hits it, so the jump is short, 3 ticks in the air instead of 12 on open ground. Jumping again and again under such a ceiling is a very efficient way to build speed: a jump every 3 ticks.
The movement described here is Java Edition's; Bedrock's differs in places.
How to do it
- Sprinting, hold W and press jump one tick later: the timing players call hh.
What goes wrong
- The hh timing has a one-tick opening. On a single block of run-up, a more lenient way: sprinting, from the back of the block and looking straight, hold jump and press W one, two or three ticks later.
See it done: the record run on Cheese's Jump Practice, from checkpoint 3 to the finish, in 3D. Watch the jump in 3D

Join play.parkour.gg on Java or Bedrock (how to join), then type a map's command to go straight to it. Where a map allows it, /fp practice lets you set your own checkpoints to train one jump; a finish in practice mode doesn't count.
